Images can be automatically displayed on the workstation’s diagnostic monitors, complemented by a RIS side monitor for viewing patient text information. Simple mouse clicks access a comprehensive toolset, exam data, clinical data (such as laboratory reports), patient histories, and voice dictation. Voice recognition options enable radiologists to dictate, edit, and approve reports at the desktop, or forward dictation for transcription. Radiologists can forward billing information directly for accurate claims processing. Reports can be posted for secure Web viewing, accessed via a PDA, or faxed automatically. A pager or e-mail can be used for notification of report availability.

A full-featured mammography solution in KODAK CARESTREAM RIS enables accurate documentation and reporting of all significant clinical findings. This graphically enabled set of clinical tools captures patient medical and mammography radiology histories, mammography findings, follow-up and patient tracking, pathology results, and an automated radiologist report. A detailed capture screen for patient concerns and procedure information includes a drawing tool that allows technologists to convey visual information to the radiologist. Customized patient letters based primarily on the BIRAD levels selected can be quickly created. Letters to referring physicians and patient appointment reminders can also be generated and tracked. Available reports include MQSA basic audit data, initial diagnosis statistics, patient follow-up, and patient statistics.
