Norman Radiology update

Finally got the diagnostic workstation and network working at Norman Radiology last week. They had DOME C3 monitors and a DOME PCI card running in an older Dell computer with Windows XP. Got the networking all figured out and documented - I am very big on documentation. More on that in a minute.
After dealing with DOME for a couple of days finally we decided to swap out Vista for XP. Did that and things worked great. Not sure how that is going to work down the road, since XP is no longer sold and Windows 7 is on the horizon. Customer wanted to keep their very expensive C3 monitors and I can't blame them. They have had the monitors 3 years, which to a customer doesn't seem long, but in the IT world those are ancient. I personally try to upgrade our office computers at least every 1.5 years and sometimes even once per year. Technology changes so fast it really pays to stay on top of it - big productivity savings.
Once I figured out how to work the NDSSI telephone support system things worked out much better. They always called back pretty quickly so that was helpful, and they claim they are going to change the password requirements so it is easier to log in and download their drivers. Let's hope so!
Anyway, everything is up and running. We are waiting for Goddard Health to set up the VPN to Norman Radiology so they can begin receiving images to read.
