Button Mania

You are at a PACS demo and the demo specialists slides the mouse to you have says "here, you try it". Holy Moly, now you have one bazillion button combinations to play with! Of course the demo person makes it look easy, right? But when you start trying to navigate through the system, you think "I just want to do my job".
Here at Dalai's PACS Blog he talks about using the Agfa PACS interface. As you can see, they are suffering from button overload. Luckily for our customers, the Carestream PACS interface is MUCH more streamlined. It has all the functionality of a top level PACS system, but with a clean, uncluttered user interface. The buttons change depending on the type of study being displayed. There are hot spots on the screen that allow you to do things like zoom or flip through the images. Of course right clicking the mouse button opens up a context-sensitive toolbar that allows you to change your mode without mousing all over the huge screens used in radiology reading. Finally, we can install a 10-key keypad so you can assign the most common functions YOU use to these hot keys.
I have heard from just about every single physician that the Carestream PACS user interface is by far the best they have seen. Good for us and good for our customers!
